Getting Started

  • We love beginners! While all of our classes are appropriate for all levels, we recommend that you start with our signature Barre Classic or Mat Pilates class. Our instructors give clear form cues and offer modifications for all levels. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first class so you can chat with your teacher about any injuries or special requirements.

  • Barre is a full-body workout inspired by ballet, Pilates, and functional fitness. Using the ballet barre for balance, classes combine small, controlled isometric movements with dynamic sequences that build endurance, sculpt lean muscles, and improve posture. Don’t worry—you don’t need dance experience! Barre is low-impact, joint-friendly, and highly effective for strengthening your core, toning arms and legs, and increasing flexibility. We push each muscle group to fatigue—you will feel the burn! Classes are set to energizing music with motivating instructors to guide you through each move.

Barre traces its roots back to the late 1950s, when German dancer Lotte Berk developed a conditioning method in London that blended ballet-inspired movements with rehabilitative exercises. Berk had suffered a back injury and created her technique by combining her dance training with therapeutic strengthening. Her method quickly became popular with dancers and non-dancers alike for its ability to tone muscles, improve posture, and build graceful strength.

  • Pilates, originally called Contrology, is a system of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates to strengthen the body uniformly. You may have heard that Pilates is just a workout for the core or abdominal muscles; however, it truly is a full-body workout! While we do work our abs, the main focus in our Pilates classes is moving from your center.

Rooted in six guiding principles—concentration, control, centering, precision, breath, and flow—classical Pilates follows a structured sequence designed to move the body with purpose and efficiency. The work emphasizes the powerhouse (the deep abdominal and spinal muscles, aka your “center”) to support every movement, building strength, flexibility, and balance from the inside out.

Our Pilates classes are not set to music, as we strive for each person to focus inward and find the rhythm and flow within each exercise. Leave the muscle burn and shake for your barre class! In Pilates we do no more than 8-10 reps per exercise with careful, focused intention.

  • Nope! All of our classes are accessible to everyone—no ballet or prior fitness experience required. All classes include modifications and progressions to suit your individual fitness level.

  • Wear what makes you feel comfortable! Form-fitting activewear (leggings and a fitted top for ladies and joggers or shorts with a tight lining for the gentlemen) helps us keep an eye on alignment. We do require grip socks (we sell them in studio) for safety and hygiene. All you need to bring is a water bottle; we provide everything else!

  • Yes—as long as you have clearance from your medical provider. Please let us know before class so we can be sure to offer the best options and modifications for you.

  • We keep classes small so teachers can give you the personalized attention that you deserve! Our Barre classes have a max of 15 clients. Mat Pilates classes are capped at 12. Our new Functional Strength class is limited to five participants, giving it a small-group, personal training feel.

Membership and Booking

  • Yes—spots can fill quickly! Please book online in advance, using the Pike13 client app (available on Google Play or in the App Store) or our scheduling website. If class is full, go ahead and join the waitlist—you’ll be auto-added in order if a spot opens. Often the waitlist will clear and you’ll be moved into the class. Please remember to cancel yourself off the waitlist if you can’t make it.

  • We understand that things happen and you might be a minute or two behind schedule. Please try to arrive a few minutes early to get settled. For safety, we lock the main front door when class begins. We will leave the studio door unlocked, but if you are more than 5 minutes late we may have to turn you away. For your safety, we need to make sure you are warmed up properly and ready for the work ahead!

  • Please cancel at least 2 hours before class. If you no-show for a class, we reserve the right to charge a $20 fee or deduct a class from your package.

For private sessions, we ask that you give your trainer at least 24 hours notice if you have to cancel or reschedule. We know 24-hours notice is not always possible, and will do our best to work with you should special circumstances arise.

  • Yes—you may freeze your membership with one week of advance notice. Please reach out via email and we will get it taken care of for you. We do limit the number of account freezes to no more than two a year.

  • Yes! All of our classes have an online option available. When you enroll, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a Zoom link. We do also offer virtual private sessions.
